Nobska Lighthouse

The Nobska Lighthouse is located on the shore just east of Woods Hole Village in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. Standing on a bluff, the lighthouse overlooks Falmouth, Martha's Vineyard, the Elizabeth Islands, Vineyard and Nantucket Sounds, and Woods Hole Passage.

The grounds are open to visit, photograph, and enjoy from dawn to dusk. 

Woods Hole Science Aquarium

Established in Woods Hole in 1885, the WHSA is the country’s oldest marine aquarium. It is owned by the federal government and operated by NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service, in partnership with the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Woods Hole visitors are allowed behind the scenes where they can watch the staff feed animals, clean tanks, and work on the life support systems. Approximately 80,000 people visit the aquarium every year, including 10,000 children in school groups.

Marine Biological Laboratory

The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is dedicated to scientific discovery – exploring fundamental biology, understanding biodiversity and the environment, and informing the human condition through research and education. Founded in Woods Hole, Massachusetts in 1888, the MBL is a private, nonprofit institution and an affiliate of the University of Chicago.

Summer Tours—Marine Biological Laboratory tours are offered Monday through Friday at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM from June 27 – August 19. Tours last approximately one hour and consist of a video presentation, a visit to the Marine Resources Center for a look at the marine animals used in MBL research, and a walking tour of the campus.

Reservations are recommended.  Please make your reservations at least one week in advance. If your plans change and/or you decide not to come, please contact us as soon as possible so that we may give your place to someone else. Tours limited to 15 people.

Woods Hole Historical Museum

The Woods Hole Historical Museum is a lively small museum with changing exhibits and diverse programs appealing to people with wide interests. The Museum galleries and buildings are open to the public from mid- June to late September, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
