Orleans

Orleans

French Cable Station Museum

Laid in 1879, the cable came to Orleans in 1891, and the French Cable Station Museum, MA 28 and Cove Road, remains much as it was when the cable was still in use.

The cable later transmitted word of Lindbergh's arrival in Paris, and remained in use until 1959.

Jonathan Young Windmill

Built in 1720, the historic windmill now situated in the center of Orleans, overlooking Town Cove just off the MA 28-MA 6A traffic circle (rotary), has moved around. It was taken to Hyannis Port in 1897, but moved back to Orleans in 1983, restored, and erected on its present site.

Rock Harbor Marsh

It is also home to Rock Harbor on the bay side, the ideal spot for watching fishing boats by day and breathtaking sunsets in the evening.

Birdwatchers will enjoy the different species seen in Orleans every year, in places like Nauset Marsh and Beach, Pochet Island and Skaket Beach.

The Church is a permanent testimony to the love and faithfulness of God, the church visually proclaims God’s word with truth, beauty and dignity. Combining mosaics and frescos, sculpted bronze, stone, and glass, the art program recounts God’s saving action redeeming humanity, drawing on scripture, church tradition, and the local setting of Cape Cod to visually proclaiming the message that all earthly life has heavenly meaning, and in all things God may be glorified.

Guided tours of the church are offered on Monday – Saturday (closed Wednesday) from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. On Fridays, following the 3:00 pm Tour, there is an organ demonstration on the E.M. Skinner Organ in the Church.
